Laura started her career in management consulting as a Programme Manager for Accenture, she transitioned into teaching after her involvement in a banking-community project which sought to improve the financial skills of young people in Africa. Laura completed the Teach First Leadership Development Programme and taught secondary English, Citizenship and Religious Studies. As part of the Gatsby pilot Laura supported the development of young people's career opportunities as her school's Careers Lead, which was furthered in her subsequent role supporting school-based teacher training (SCITT).
Joining the Skills Builder Partnership was a natural progression for Laura who sees the value of embedding skills-based learning within the curriculum. Having experienced project-based learning in education, and seen the benefits it can bring if done correctly, Laura wants to support fellow teachers in their own mission to bring skills to life in the classroom. Laura is the Education Associate for the North-East of England - a region she is passionate about supporting.
