Bikeworks CIC is an innovative Social Enterprise which uses cycling as a tool for positive change in our communities and as a source of enrichment for some of the harder to reach people in society. For the last 15 years, Bikeworks' diverse programmes have included inclusive all-ability cycling clubs, community bike shops, roadside Dr Bike pop-ups, bike recycling & waste diversion, employment training (City & Guilds centre), adult & schools cycle instruction, corporate team-building events, cycling for wellbeing, community taxi services, cargo bike deliveries to support the pandemic response, cycling infrastructure consultancy and lots of positive partnership working.
Bikeworks have recently re-established an employment skills training programme with current funding targeted at adult learners with a stated learning difficulty or mild mental health condition. Their intention is to integrate the Skills Builder Universal Framework in this programme, creating space for it to sit alongside City & Guilds accredited content and trying to make this essential skills support as personalised for each learner as possible.
