TRIP-HOSTING EMPLOYER
Our employer partners periodically host visits to their workplaces by groups of students, who get a chance to meet employees and ask questions. Volunteers and students then get to work on a challenge that gives a flavour of what the organisation does.
Brightside is a social mobility charity, creating inspirational mentoring relationships which help young people make confident and informed decisions about their future. We work in every region of England and have mentored over 100,000 young people since 2003. Brightside are using the Skills Builder Framework to enhance their Cornwall Mentoring Project, making use of the language and activities around the skills, as well as the self-assessment tool to look at the distance travelled on this project which pairs together Brightside Mentoring and Careers Information, Advice and Guidance.
How they use the Skills Builder Framework
Explicit and consistent use of language from Framework
Connecting with partners around common skills
Audit of existing programme content
Assessment of programme impact
Reflection with learners on programme experience
Training for delivery team
Additional offer to schools (e.g. Hub resources)
Increase specificity and focus within programme (e.g. refer to specific steps, rather than whole skill)
Measuring learner baseline to differentiate programme/intervention
Sharing best practice with other skills-building organisations
Development or co-creation of new content
