Situated on a 60-acre campus in the heart of the city centre of Birmingham, it offers accommodation to over 3,000 of its 10,000+ undergraduate students, along with excellent amenities to support studies, work and leisure for students and staff alike - making it a popular choice for further study.
The day started off with the learners using their Listening Carefully skills by interviewing the student ambassadors to find out about their different experiences of university and the Essential Skills required to do their courses, which could range from broadcasting and journalism to law and business studies. The learners then explored what makes a university by carrying out their own research into the different faculties and the associated facilities to support these. They were then taken on a tour of their hosts facilities.
Inspired by what they had seen around them, teams then began designing their own dream university as a way of channeling their Using Imagination skills. Teams designs were incredibly creative and innovative, taking into account what students would need to help them study, practise, relax and even eat and drink. The day culminated in group presentations to the student ambassadors, designed to persuade prospective future students to study there.
