Operation Moonbase at Brook House Primary School
Event date:
Brook House Primary School
From the London Borough of Haringey Brook House Primary school has been working with Enabling Enterprise since 2018 to develop a set of eight Essential Skills in their students. Alongside inspirational visits to top employers, students have been developing essential skills in school through Challenge Days such as The Future Transport Challenge.
Operation Moonbase
Over the course of the day, students used their Teamwork skills to establish a new society on a distant moon called Utopia. A series of challenges required teams to use their Essential Skills, particularly practising their Creativity, Problem Solving and Listening skill sets. Teams needed to select a crew to support them on their mission, then work together to design a new species of animal to benefit society before finally creating a model of their own dream city. The day culminated in a series of persuasive pitches at the Intergalactic Trade Fair, which gave each team the opportunity to show off their fantastic ideas.
Creativity and Problem Solving come together to create a new species of animal for Utopia.Teams use Leadership and Teamwork to plan their new Utopian city.
Students show their Staying Positive skills as they take on the challenge of making their model cities 3D!
Their Teamwork skills have improved significantly from the autumn challenge day! In their mixed ability teams, I've been able to step back and allow the children to organise themselves through today's challenge.
Teacher, Year 2
