Church Hill School
From the London Borough of Barnet, Church Hill School has been working with Enabling Enterprise since 2018 to develop a set of eight Essential Skills in their students. Their first experience was a visit to a top employer and they will also be applying and developing these skills across the whole school through Lesson-Time Projects and Challenge Days this year.

Wonderful Workers
The day started off with the students interviewing the volunteers to find out about their different roles, responsibilities and the Essential Skills required to do their jobs. They were really keen to find out all the top tips they could get from the adults on skills such as Teamwork, Problem Solving and Staying Positive. Students worked in teams to look at all the different ways that the world of work is similar to being at school. Over the course of the day, teams had the opportunity to visit different work stations, which looked at different types of jobs that people do including finance, human resources, site management and advertising. Teams also earnt money for demonstrating their enterprise skills as well as getting the job one! At the end of the day, students were ready to create their very first CV, followed by a reflection on which job they liked the most as well as how well they had been Working in a Team.
The children were very inquisitive and engaged very well with all the activities. It would be great to see some of them work here when they are older.
Lendlease Volunteer
I liked my team because we listened to each other's ideas and everyone had a turn to draw.
Year 3, Church Hill School
I love these trips because the children get to see a real life working environment. It allows them to be exposed to how the skills are relevant outside of school.
