Event date:
Clifton Primary School
Clifton Primary School in Southall have been working with Enabling Enterprise since 2016. In school, students have been busy developing their Essential Skills by completing exciting Challenge Days such as ‘Operation: Moonbase‘, where they used their Leadership, Creativity and Teamwork skills to establish a new society. In class, they have been taking this development further by taking part in Lesson-Time Projects. Outside of school, students' trips to employers give them a fantastic opportunity to put these skills to good use once again with the help of professionals from the world of work.
Catalyst Housing Association
Catalyst is one of the UK’s leading housing associations – a member of the G15 group, with over 21,000 homes in London and the South East.
Spread the Word
Today's challenge was to 'spread the word' about our host by creating an exciting new mascot with an important message. Throughout the day, the learners carried out lots of research, demonstrating their excellent Listening skills. The teams went on a tour and learned a little about the fantastic work being carried out on a daily basis by the different departments and their team members. Back in the room, it was time to get Problem Solving to research all the facts they could, before using their Creativity to come up with designs for a new mascot in order to promote positive messages. Later in the day, the students designed posters to showcase their new mascot and spread the word, before presenting their designs to our panel of volunteer judges who were spoilt for choice when it came to finding areas to praise.

It's been a really good day. The students will take away an understanding of a new example of the world of work and the use of skills in a different setting.
Teacher, Clifton Primary
It's so important for these kids to see the range of careers, jobs and companies out there and it's lovely to hear them say that they would like to come and work here one day - before today, they may not have even known we existed!

Today, we have learnt that Creativity is not just drawing or painting, it's the ideas you come up with and how you use them. It could be in football, in dance, in music or in what you choose to do for your hobbies.
