Holy Trinity CE Primary School
Event date:
Holy Trinity CE Primary School
From the London Borough of Camden, Holy Trinity CE Primary School have been working with Enabling Enterprise since January 2013 to develop a set of eight Essential Skills in their students. Since then, students have been practising their essential skills through Employer Visits as well as Challenge Days.
Yoti is a company whose aim is to be the world's trusted identity system, for individuals and businesses. Their passionate team of software developers, security consultants and other clever minds work to improve the way people share their personal information, online and in person.
The day started off with the students interviewing the volunteers to find out about their different roles, responsibilities and the Essential Skills required to do their jobs. Students then went on a tour of the premises, which allowed the teams to see the great variety of jobs available in the world of technology. Taking on the role of Technology Companies, teams were challenged to apply their Problem Solving skills to design a new app that employees could use to improve their communication. Alongside choosing a catchy name for their new app, teams thought about the different functions the app would have and how each of these might help solve a work-related problem. Teams worked efficiently and were able to make key design decisions including the app’s icon and how it would appear in the app store - all within tight deadlines! The day culminated with the Technology Companies Presenting their app in front of the room as the judges were deciding which team had developed Problem Solving skills the most.

Presenting has been a focus for the students this year, so it was great to see them present to a room full of adults they hadn't met before.
