Orchard Park High School
Orchard Park High School is located in Croydon. They have been working with us since 2017 to develop the essential skills of their students. They have done this by running Challenge Days across whole year groups as well as taking part in trips to employer partners.
Operation Moonbase
Over the course of the challenge, learners applied essential skills to answer the question: What makes a successful society? They worked in teams to establish a new society on a distant moon called Utopia. They applied Problem Solving to select a crew to support them on their mission and applied Creativity to design a new species of animal to benefit society. Then, they applied Teamwork to create a new bill of laws, promoting safety and equality wamongst their citizens. Learners then applied Leadership and Staying Positive skills to design and create a 3-D model of the first city on Utopia. The day culminated with teams applying Aiming High skills to reflect on the essential skills they had used throughout the challenge, before Presenting them later in their form groups.
At first I thought they’d moan about working together but in fact they’re doing a right storm of it! I think it’s the creative element that’s keeping them on task as they’ve given each other all the different parts to put together.

Yes we had a bit of an argument but we’re fine now because everyone is doing their assigned jobs. What’s helped our Teamwork is we’ve used humour!
