St Mary’s CE Primary School, Ince has been working with Enabling Enterprise since 2015. In school students have been developing the eight essential skills through Lesson Time Projects and Challenge Days. Some lucky students have even had the opportunity to take part in Business Trips to companies across Greater Manchester.
Addleshaw Goddard Manchester
Addleshaw Goddard is an international, corporate law firm headquartered in London with offices in Leeds and Manchester. They employ 750 lawyers focusing on commercial, corporate and employment law.
Listen up Lawyers
From the moment they arrived, students were putting their essential skills into action. First of all by gathering as much information as they could about their hosts and the volunteers who were joining them for the day, and then further as they explored the workplace through a tour. Then, in teams, the students were set their Presenting challenge: to take on the role of lawyers and prepare a case for trial. They acted as either prosecution or defence, forming arguments to present in court. They analysed evidence, choosing the most compelling pieces to weave into their case. The day ended with a mock trial in front of a panel of volunteers. They reflected on how they had applied Presenting throughout the challenge and looked ahead to how they could apply this skill again in the future.

I didn't know I wanted to be a solicitor but today has shown me how fun it can be and now I know if I work hard I could be a great solicitor.

The kids really impressed me today, their presenting skills, ability to work together and show leadership when their teams were struggling. I couldn't have done such a good job when I was their age.

I have really enjoyed watching the pupils work together today, it's great watching them from a distance and seeing the different personalities and skills at work beyond the classroom!
