St Pauls CE Infant School
Based in the village of Tongham in Surrey, St Paul’s CE Infant joined the Skills Builder Partnership in 2017. The school has strong ties with its local community and offers children opportunities to extend their learning both in and outside of the classroom. Through their work with Skills Builder, students from across the school put their skills to the test in exciting whole-school Challenge Days, whilst Lesson-Time Projects in the classroom enable these skills to be stretched further in a range of collaborative tasks.
Operation Moonbase
Over the course of the challenge, learners applied essential skills to answer the question: What makes a successful society? They worked in teams to establish a new society on a distant moon called Utopia. They applied Problem Solving to select a crew to support them on their mission and applied Creativity to design a new species of animal to benefit society. Then, they applied Teamwork, Leadership and Staying Positive skills to design and create a model of the first city on Utopia. The day culminated with teams applying Presenting and Listening skills, as they shared their new societies with the wider group. At the end of the challenge, learners applied Aiming High by reflecting on the essential skills they had used throughout the challenge.

Our team has been really good because we all help each other and listen to each other. We're the best team!

It's been so lovely to see their Teamwork skills develop throughout the day. I have deliberately paired up kids who aren't usually together and they are now choosing to work together, even when they haven't been asked to!

It's good to work with others because they can help you and you can do more. You can also make things better if you have other people to share ideas.
