World Science Movement

As a global non-profit,Young Global Impact (YGA) has worked for 24 years to bring STEAM Education to children in underserved communities with the goal to empower youth with essential skills for a better future through a double-winged approach, combining strong competence in STEM skills with conscience and a strong sense of social responsibility.

The World Science Movement Initiative inspires primary school children aged 7-11 years to develop a passion for STEAM for Education Social Responsibility (ESR).  Volunteers working in these workshops witnessed firsthand the positive impact of science kits on children. Driven by the mission to bring these innovative learning tools not just to workshop participants but to children all around the world, they founded Twin Science, an international ed-tech company dedicated to nurturing children's natural curiosity and showing them that science is easy and fun.  Twin offers both physical (Twin Science Kits) and digital (Twin App) products, designed to make learning science fun, interactive, and accessible for children worldwide.

The World Science Movement programme works with children in Key Stage 2 from schools in underserved areas.  Twin STEM kits are delivered to schools, giving them the latest technology and teaching materials to support authentic and hands-on learning, with teachers and volunteers trained and supported to deliver the programme.

Mapping the Twin Skills Framework to the Skills Builder Universal Framework, the focus essential skills of Problem Solving, Creativity and Teamwork have been identified, with modules within the programme aligned to core essential skill steps. Teachers are supported to understand how these skill steps unlock learning and resources explicitly highlight how essential skill steps support learners to reflect on and practise and apply these through a range of activities.  Teachers are also supported to capture learners' progression in essential skill steps through pre- and post-programme assessments, with learners also capturing their own progression through self-assessment.  This holistic approach to essential skill development ensures accurate reflection and progression data, and also means that any areas for development identified can be incorporated into future resources, through a formative assessment process.
