Skills Builder has been used with Year 12 students.

I have used Skills Builder alongside the Aspirations Employability Diploma which is designed to prepare students for the working world. An example of how developing the 8 skills has been useful to the students would be their presentation skills. They have developed all the skills needed to deliver a successful presentation, and more importantly feel confident to do so.

I have found the videos and activities useful. We went back to basics and started with the lower level tasks. At times the students felt these tasks were not age appropriate. However, when I looked back at the essential skills questionnaire after 6 months of using Skills Builder terminology, the progress was tremendous.

Students have lots of opportunities to practice these skills through project based learning and through the huge range of extra curricular opportunities.

We have demonstrated how these skills are an important part of life through role play, team projects, individual projects and by inviting guest speakers into Space Studio.
