The Sector Based Work Academy Programme is a three-day programme for 18–24 year olds who want real experience and practical skills - not another classroom. No prior experience or qualifications are needed. Just an open mind and a willingness to show up. It's a chance to get inside Kingston Council and the Civil Service, meet the people who work there, and leave with something that genuinely moves participants' job searches forward. Kingston Council wants young people who bring fresh thinking and different perspectives.

The essential skills icons are included in the presentation slides and are consistently referred to throughout the sessions by the facilitators.

Learners reflect on their eight essential skills, and the specific skill steps for each, via the Skills Builder Benchmark platform (and commit to keeping up with re-assessments after the sessions). From this, they identify their specific step strengths, and their areas for improvement.

Learners also reflect on specific skill steps from the Universal Framework during the mock-interview activity.
