Mukuru Shujaa helps children aged 6–15 in Nairobi’s informal settlements build the social-emotional skills they need to realise wellbeing, overcome challenges, and become ready to learn. We improve education outcomes from beyond the classroom by using sports as an entry point to create safe spaces for play and structured social-emotional learning, while working with families, schools, and communities to strengthen the support systems every child needs to thrive.

Children practice essential skills through football training, games, school-based activities, and take-home tasks, helping them apply learning in different parts of their lives.

After each practice, children reflect on what they learned and how the skill connects to school and everyday life, helping deepen understanding and support progression.
