The Return and Retain Adolescent Mothers in School Programme supports adolescent mothers in Uganda to re-enrol, remain in school, and thrive academically and socially. Delivered through schools and communities, the programme combines life skills education, psychosocial support, mentorship, counselling, parental engagement, and school advocacy to address barriers to education. Essential Skills are intentionally embedded throughout the programme, with a focus on Speaking, Problem Solving, and Creativity, enabling participants to build confidence, communicate effectively, make informed decisions, and identify practical solutions to everyday challenges. Participant progress is monitored through self-reflection, facilitator observations, and continuous feedback to support sustained personal and educational development
The Return and Retain Adolescent Mothers in School Programme intentionally integrates the Skills Builder Universal Framework into life skills, mentorship, psychosocial support, and school reintegration activities. At Impact Level 2, participants develop Speaking, Problem Solving, and Creativity through role plays, discussions, and practical exercises. They assess their own progress using structured self-reflection forms, while facilitators provide feedback through observation checklists. Progress is monitored using self-assessments, facilitator observations, and reflection records, enabling participants to recognise strengths, identify areas for improvement, and set personal learning goals.
