SEND/PRU Community of Practice

A programme to give SEND/PRU schools the opportunity to embed skill development in their provision.

The SEND and PRU Community of Practice (CoP) is part of Cumbria Careers Hub. It brings together special schools and pupil referral units from across the County.  The outcomes of the CoP are:

• To establish a community of practice committed to improving access of opportunity for young people with SEND
• To provide a platform to share examples of best practice of careers education and guidance
• To provide a platform to share information, opportunities and sources of support
• To advise on any projects or resources which could be developed to support young people with SEND achieve positive careers outcomes
• To establish and strengthen links with local employers
• To work towards improving employment opportunities for young people with SEND

Working alongside Skills Builder, schools have been supported to identify areas of their Schemes of Work or careers plans and look at where and how to embed skills and align with existing programmes. Resources and links will be provided and impact will be measured and shared.
