The Apprentice Project (TAP) was founded by alumni from the Indian Institute of Management, Teach For India, & Harvard University. They won the Harvard President's Innovation Challenge 2021 for the impact of their model during the Covid-19 crisis. In the last 5 years, TAP has worked with over 7000 students from low-income communities in 6 cities across India.

TAP’s Student Holistic Development Project ensures children in fifth to tenth grade are ready for the future. Courses range from Coding to Science Lab to the Visual Arts. The learners receive skill training to develop essential social & emotional skills like creativity, confidence, & problem-solving. This approach motivates children to excel in school, teaches them skills essential to employability readiness & widens their scope of imagination.

There are two models for the Project:

  • In-school Model:
School teachers show the videos on a device, they engage, support & encourage the students, who perform the activities in the classroom and build essential skills.
  • After-school Model:
Videos are shared with the student by TAP via WhatsApp Bot. The teachers & TAP motivates them in classroom or via WhatsApp groups. Students build essential skills through activities at home.
