Skills Builder Global Accelerator is our flagship programme for educators worldwide. We work together with schools and colleges outside of the UK to develop and implement a complete strategy for teaching skills.

The Skills Builder Awards
The awards are a globally recognised standard that celebrates schools and colleges commitment to building essential skills into their educational practice. The award demonstrates high-quality essential skills education across six best practice principles that have been refined with more than 1,000 schools and colleges over the last decade.
Six principles:
- Keep it simple - develop a consistent focus on essential skills to build a shared understanding and tangible goals
- Start early, keep going - commit to building essential skills across all ages to allow sustained development
- Measure it - tracking essential skill development to highlight progress and demonstrate next steps
- Teach directly - plan explicit and direct instruction at the correct step level
- Keep practising - apply essential skills in other areas of the curriculum to accelerate progress
- Bring it to life - give learners opportunities to apply their essential skills in real life situations
Receiving a Skills Builder Award demonstrates that a school or college has developed a common language and effective strategic plan for building essential skills. Also that learners benefit from explicit teaching and application of essential skills in a range of educational and real world settings. Accelerator schools and colleges are also able to effectively measure and celebrate progress in their learners, proving that they are equipping young people with the essential skills they need to succeed in life.
The Case Study
Our Accelerator programs collate a yearly case study to celebrate the impact that has been achieved. Our Case Study Showcase is a great source of inspiration for building essential skills in a wide range of educational settings across the globe.
The case studies provide details of the educational context, the overall impact, the implementation of the six best practice principles and plans for the further development.
