First Hand is an events-led climate learning platform. They work to accelerate systemic transformation through direct connection to the people and places making change. First Hand combines real-world, peer-learning experiences with a community platform for sharing ideas and building skills for collective climate action.
First Hand is place-based: it’s run in real-world local contexts, immersing participants in live case studies, where they can observe and practise the essential skills of change, from communication (Listening and Speaking) to Creativity and Problem Solving.
Throughout the learning experience, participants learn essential skills definitions and how to recognise them. They have opportunities to assess themselves using the skills reflection posters and to identify what next steps they can take to make progress.
Participants also practise essential skills steps through tailored individual and group activities designed to highlight the critical role of essential skills and how they can be applied and improved in their own contexts.
