Mental health affects people of all ages and impacts many different areas of a person's life, such as their physical health, relationships, productivity and performance.       METTLE is a mental health and wellness programme that is delivered in primary schools, secondary schools and universities, which provides outreach in our local communities to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health and aims to build/ support good mental health in young people using the power of rugby.

During the programme, students will learn about the importance of mental health, healthy eating, relationships and self-care. Students will also learn rugby skills which, support the learning and development of skills used to manage their wellbeing and mental health.

METTLE focuses on four essential skills; speaking, listening, staying positive and teamwork, as these four essential skills are vital to promoting and maintaining good mental health in a person's life.

The essential skills that young people will learn on The Harlequins Foundation’s METTLE programme can also be used successfully off the pitch too as they are transferable life skills.
