Highlights from our Global Impact Fellowship Forum: February 2026

At Skills Builder Global, our mission is clear: we want to ensure that one day, everyone builds the essential skills they need to succeed. Our monthly Global Organisations Monthly Forum is a vital part of this mission, providing a dedicated space for our partners to connect, collaborate, and amplify our collective impact across the globe.

Our most recent forum, "See it, Be it: Modeling Essential Skills," focused on moving beyond theory to make the Universal Framework tangible for all. Here are the key highlights and takeaways from the session.

Modeling essential skills: "See it, Be it"

The theme of the month was all about making skill steps concrete. By modeling these skills, we help learners understand their relevance in all aspects of life, moving from a vague academic understanding to actively embodying these essential abilities.

Spotlight on impact: Career Kickstart’s journey

We were thrilled to welcome Marianne Sombra from Career Kickstart, a career development organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. Marianne shared her organisation’s inspiring journey to achieving Impact Level 3 in the Global Impact Fellowship.

Career Kickstart joined the fellowship with a specific goal: to make skills training more practical and observable for their students.

The power of relatable modeling

To bring the framework to life, Career Kickstart integrated relatable avatars- Selena and Jaden- into their "Next Level" graduate program.

  • Relatability: Selena is a graduate who shares her real-world frustrations.
  • Actionable Steps: Rather than showing perfection, Selena demonstrates the practice and application of specific skill steps throughout the program modules.
  • Digestible Learning: This approach makes the Universal Framework more relatable and easier for students to digest.

Lessons from the field

Marianne shared three crucial lessons learned from their integration process:

  1. Start Small: Be intentional with your integration and don't try to do everything at once.
  2. Internalise the Framework: It is essential for facilitators and staff to deeply understand and internalise the skill steps themselves before teaching them.
  3. The Journey Continues: Achieving an Impact Level is just the beginning of the ongoing work to empower learners.
