An educational resource for 11- to 19-year olds, GetZero empowers young people to take action on the climate crisis by exploring behaviour changes within their homes. The workshops enable discussions around sustainable living and encourage each young person to make behavioural changes that promote sustainability.
Additionally, GetZero offers a free web-based educational app. Through this app, students can experiment with emission reduction ideas in a digital representation of their home and tackle real-world challenges with their classmates and family. The app provides easy access to programme resources, including information on green careers and training opportunities for young people aged 16 and above.
The GetZero programme helps build five of the essential skills throughout. Each skill is incorporated into the programme, providing students with opportunities to practise and develop them. Lesson plans feature an overview of the collaboration with Skills Builder and suggestions on how to incorporate the skills, allowing for flexibility in a way that best suits different teaching styles.
To facilitate discussion and practice of the essential skills, question prompts are included within the presentation slides. Furthermore, the worksheets include links to Skills Builder Launchpad, allowing students to reflect on their progress and track it independently.
