Rise workshops are designed to empower students by highlighting their current skills and attributes, encouraging their development within the school context to realise their full potential. The program features a series of collaborative challenges that bridge classroom learning with real-world workplace applications. Students are encouraged to make connections between Rise activities, curriculum content, and Skills Builder frameworks. Delivery options include a unison approach, where all groups progress through Steps 1-6 collectively, or a carousel format, allowing groups to work independently on different steps. Carousel delivery is optimised for groups of seven. Each step is accompanied by a briefing sheet containing instructions that students must read, interpret, and follow. Mentors, volunteers or teachers can be assigned to specific steps to provide guidance and support.

Essential skill icons are clearly displayed on the student reflection worksheets which are provided at start of the workshop.

Each workshop activity is linked to a Skills Builder Skill and Step. E.g. Activity 1 is called: What defines you? This is linked to Leadership Step 7: I recognise my own strengths and weaknesses as a leader.

The facilitator of the workshop will ask prompt questions around the focus skill and step during the activity. At the end of the workshop, students will complete an individual self-reflection on a worksheet for each of the 8 Essential Skills. They have to score their confidence to apply each skill out of 10. To support these reflections and to help them to reflect honestly, 3 focus steps from each skill are highlighted.
